Beyond Women's Day : Jagannath Lamichhane : More than two-thirds of the population who live in poverty are women. Women suffer more acutely from both discrimination and violence because of their gender. This makes it very hard for women in poverty to enjoy their rights to health, education, shelter, food — the same rights in turn could help them break out of poverty,” Amnesty International reports in its recent newsletter to highlight International Women’s Day, March 8. During the summer 2010 semester, New York Law School (NYLS) will be offering two of its courses in its online, distance learning mental disability law program: Survey of Mental Disability Law, and Sex Offenders. NYLS now offers twelve different online courses in all aspects of mental disability law studies, as well as a masters degree and an Advanced Certificate, all in the same online format. Courses are described at www.nyls.edu/mdl; registration of students for summer courses is open now, and anyone interested should contact Liane Bass, esq., Senior Administrator of the program (lbass@nyls.edu). We will be posting the fall schedule in the very near future. The courses are appropriate for law students, practicing lawyers, mental health professionals, international human rights activists, and mental health activists and advocates. |

The Wellbeing Foundation is a Public interest mental health and wellbeing Trust registered for the sake and the geographical area of Coimbatore in an around in Tamil Nadu state of south India. Screening and detection of early mental illness, referring to the medical help, counselling, mainstreaming the mentally treated persons to the family setup, caring for the aged and for their mental health, creating geriatric clubs, day care centres, generating wellbeing activities in the society, geraitirc and psychiatric nursing care, stress management and related activities, publishing news letter, follow-up action towards the mentally treated person, rehabilitation and vocational trainning for the mentally treated and persons sufferring with metal illness, protecting the civil and human rights of the mentally sufferring persons and all other relevent activities and advocacies. Micro level programmes, home visits and helping the mentally sufferring persons at their ends are the unique supports to the persons sufferring with mental illness from the Wellbeing foundation. Also social research, field research with the government, universities and Institutions involeved in mental health purpose.
