Indicators
|
In the Call for Action, the Lancet Global Mental Health Group has identified a set of core mental health indicators that were designed to monitor attainment of targets related to scaling up the coverage of basic, evidence-based services for mental disorders. These indicators allow each country to measure its own progress towards attaining the targets and allow comparison with other countries. The set of core indicators include five core and six secondary indicators. Taken together, these eleven indicators address the four most important goals that are necessary for the scaling up mentioned above, namely sufficient planning and investment for mental health; a sufficient workforce to provide mental health services; consistency of mental health care inputs and processes with best practices and human rights protection; and improved outcomes for people with mental disorders. In addition to this set of core indicators, there are a number of other important indicators and associated targets of progress towards scaling up coverage of basic, evidence-based services for mental disorders. It may be appropriate for a subset of these additional indicators to supplement the core set in a specific setting. |
